Staff Reporter :

The main opposition party-BNP on Sunday alleged that Bangladesh Bank restricted entry of journalists to the central bank to hide corruption and plundering of the people’s wealth by the ruling Awami League’s close persons.

“The central bank has prohibited journalists’ entry in the bank due to their looting and corruption. The bank has made the decision so that journalists cannot get information about those who have involved in money plundering,” BNP Senior Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said at a brief rally in front the party’s Naya Paltan central office in the capital.

Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal organised the rally demanding release of BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, and former Juba Dal and Chhatra Dal leaders Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel and Abdul Qadir Bhuiyan Jewel.

Among others, BNP Organising Secretary Abdus Salam Azad, joint economic affairs secretary Mahmudur Rahman Sumon, Juba Dal vice-president Zakir Hossain Siddiqui and Chhatra Dal former acting president Rashed Iqbal Khan spoke at the rally.
Rizvi claimed also that the people of nationalist forces, who speak on favoring the nation, were in jail now.

“Those who are plundering banks, grabbing rivers and canals are roaming around the country freely as they all belong to the ruling party, this is proven now,” the BNP leader said.
He claimed also that if this AL government remains in power, they will sell the houses of the people of the country.
