Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Thailand’s Kasetsart University (KU) to foster deeper cooperation in academic and research activities between the two institutions.
The agreement, signed by senior officials from both universities, aims to enhance collaboration through student and faculty exchanges, joint research projects, continuing education programs, and participation in bilateral academic forums and seminars.
Prof. Dr. Md. Bahanur Rahman confirmed that the MoU was officially signed and is now in effect from Wednesday, 24th April. The MoU will remain in effect for five years from the date of signing and may be extended further upon mutual agreement. At least five intern students will get the chance of having internship in KU from the coming year, he added.
Prof. Dr. A K Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan, Vice-Chancellor of BAU, and Prof. Dr. Md. Bahanur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science, signed the MoU on behalf of BAU. Representing Kasetsart University were Dr. Damrong Sripraram, Acting President, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Khongsak Thiangtum, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. “This collaboration marks a significant step in broadening our global academic network,” said Prof. Bahanur. “It will allow our students and researchers to benefit from international exposure and joint scholarly activities.”
Speaking on the importance of knowledge exchange, Prof. Bahanur further added, “This partnership will enrich the academic experience of veterinary students and teachers from both Bangladesh and Thailand.
By sharing our scientific knowledge and practical expertise, we can address global challenges in animal health and production more effectively. Our joint efforts will also cultivate a generation of globally aware veterinary professionals who are ready to lead in both academia and the field.”
KU, the largest public university in Thailand established in 1943, brings a wealth of experience in agricultural and veterinary sciences, making it a strategic partner for BAU, which operates under the Agricultural University Ordinance of 1961.
The MoU also outlines that any detailed projects or collaborative initiatives will be formalized through legally binding agreements that include provisions on confidentiality, intellectual property rights, dispute resolution, and other key legal considerations.
