Bashundhara Kings will face Saif Sporting Club in the final of the Walton Federation Cup Football at the Bangabandhu National Stadium today. The gala match kicks-off at 4.00pm. Private satellite sports channel T Sports will telecast the match live from the arena.
If Bashundhara Kings become the champions they will clinch the Federation Cup title for the second time.
On the other hand, Saif Sporting Club are for the first time play in the final.
Bashundhara Kings showed a better brand of soccer before they reached the final. Before the final, they registered all-win record in their previous matches. They are looking forward to ending this meet with another remarkable performance in the final with an aim to retain the title for the second consecutive occasions.
Bashundhara made a flying start in the tournament beating old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj MFS by 3-0 goals and confirmed their spot of quarterfinal as group champions with solitary goal victory over Chattogram Abahani Limited in their second and last group match.
Bashundhara Kings ensured their last four stage by beating Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by 2-0 goals in the third quarter-final. They entered the final defeating Dhaka Abahani Limited by 3-1 goals in the semifinal.
On the other hand, new powerhouse Saif Sporting Club are on the verge of creating a new history as the club are only one win away from their maiden Federation Cup title.
Saif Sporting Club confirmed their final berth beating Chattogram Abahani Limited by 3-0 goals in the semifinal.
They reached the semifinal of the tournament beating Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited by 7-6 goals in a sudden death tiebreaker in the quarter-final match.
In the group stage matches, they had maintained their supremacy by winning all the matches. Saif Sporting Club made a winning start as they blanked Uttar Baridhara Club by 3-0 goals in their group opening match, defeated Brothers Union Club by 6-1 goals and emerged group B champions with a solitary goal victory over Arambagh Krira Sangha in their third and last group match.
Saif Sporting Club’s Belgian Coach Paul Put said, ” The history is created in this competition from the semifinals. We reached the semi-final for the first time and then in the final. If we win the final we shall be the champions, which will be a history.”
He said, ” Bashundhara are better than us. We follow them.”
Captain of Saif Sporting Club Riyadul Hasan Rafi said, ” Al Amin will be with us in this time. But he could not with us due to injury. We want to dedicate the trophy to Al Amin.”
