Bashundhara Kings reached the final of the Walton Federation Cup Football defeating Dhaka Abahani Limited by 3-1 goals in the second semi-final at the flood-lit Bangabandhu National Stadium on Thursday.
The stipulated ninety-minute match was locked 1-1.
As the ninety-minute game ended in a 1-1 draw, the fate of the match was decided in the extra-time.
Abahani’s Brazilian recruit Francisco put his team ahead in the 31st minute of the game. He got the ball in the Bashundhara’s D-box from a pass of his teammate and Francisco put the ball into the blank net by a cool-headed right-footer.
Bashundhara’s Brazilian recruit Jonathon leveled the margin in the 51st minute of the play. He dodged past three Abahani’s defender and hit a sudden shot, which crossed the Abahani’s goal line after touching the cross-piece.
After the ninety-minute match, Bashundhara’s Argentine recruit Besera made it 2-1 using a cross of his teammate Matin Mia in the 110th minute of the match.
Later, Nabib Newaz of Abahani’s confirm goal was cancelled as the linesman showed off-side flag just few minutes before the long whistle. Thus the game was stopped for some time. Later, the sky-blue out-fit were agreed to play.
Bashundhara’s Brazilian recruit Jonathon made it 3-1 using a cross of his compatriot Robson at the dying moment.
Bashundhara Kings will face Saif Sporting Club in the final at the same venue on January 10. The match kicks-off at 4.00pm.
