In July-August 2024, Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Solaiman Tushar released his research book, “The Epic Fall of Dictator Sheikh Hasina,” which chronicles the dramatic rise and fall of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina amid the student movement.
The book has been published by the renowned American company Amazon through its Kindle Publishing platform. Both the e-book (available at www.amazon.com/dp/ B0DNCXXTS2) and the paperback edition (available at www.amazon.com/dp/ B0DND176GX) can be ordered from Amazon’s website globally. The e-book is priced at $9.99, while the paperback costs $19.99.
Spanning 263 pages and divided into nine chapters, the book provides a comprehensive account of the most brutal genocide in Bangladesh’s history, which occurred in July-August 2024. It details Sheikh Hasina’s transformation from a democratic leader to a dictator, her subsequent fall, and her escape.
The book addresses serious issues such as extrajudicial killings, human rights violations, and the large-scale student protests that unfolded during this tumultuous period. It also explores, in the context of domestic and international law, the accountability of Sheikh Hasina and her allies for the atrocities committed.
Among the chapters is an in-depth analysis of the true masterminds behind the July-August student movement, as well as a discussion on the highly debated ‘Aynagahr’ in Bangladeshi history. The book also examines the legal legitimacy and practical realities of the government led by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
Additionally, Tushar discusses the role of political parties during the July-August movement, including the tragic killings of law enforcement personnel.
A chapter is dedicated to the uncompromising leader and former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, who is regarded as a national figure in the country’s history.
The author further investigates India’s involvement in Bangladesh’s independence movement and its subsequent interference in the nation’s political and economic affairs, raising the question of whether Sheikh Hasina’s downfall represents a defeat for India.
Barrister Solaiman Tushar remarked, “The Epic Fall of Dictator Sheikh Hasina” is a realistic research book.
I have documented my observations of the student movement during these turbulent times. The book contains much previously unknown information, and I believe readers will gain valuable insights from it.
