Barrister MA Salam, advisor to BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman and the party’s central international affairs secretary, who is seeking BNP nomination from Sylhet-3 constituency, held a huge mass rally and mass march with at least 10,000 leaders and activists in support of the 31 points. Leaders and activists gathered in large numbers at Chandipool Point on the Sylhet-Dhaka highway in South Surma on Saturday at 3 pm for this historic mass rally. This 31-point program took the form of a historic mass meeting and procession in the history of Sylhet with the participation of leaders and activists of BNP, Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, Sramik Dal and other allied organizations from remote areas of South Surma, Fenchuganj and Balaganj upazilas under Sylhet-3 constituency.
On the spot, it was seen that thousands of leaders and activists and ordinary people from different areas of Sylhet-3 constituency came to Chandipool area with processions from 12 noon. They participated in various community centers and empty establishments during this time. At exactly 2:30 pm, thousands of leaders and activists gathered at Chandipool point in a very orderly manner. Taking into consideration the fact that traffic jams would not be created at Chandipool point due to the presence of a large number of people, Barrister MA Salam, the chief guest of this historic mass meeting, delivered a brief speech to the leaders and activists and the ordinary people. He said, the 31 points of the state structure reform announced by our leader, Mr. Tarique Rahman, a symbol of the hopes and aspirations of the freedom-loving people of this country, must be delivered to every household. These 31 points should not be limited to the party alone but should be delivered to the people at large.
He said, if BNP comes to power in the next election, it will reflect the hopes and aspirations of the people by implementing the 31 points. Mr. Tarique Rahman will take the nation to a unique height by reforming all the constitutional structures of the state. There will be no political discrimination in this. Even to save the country and the nation from the way the autocratic Awami League government has destroyed every institution in the country, there is no alternative to implementing the 31 points. Barrister Salam said, if BNP wins the next election, our leader Tarique Rahman will ensure equal rights for people of all religions. He will provide a card for the women of every family. With the money provided in this, women will ensure the education and medical treatment of their children. Similar agricultural cards will be provided to farmers. Through which they will enjoy all kinds of benefits.
Barrister Salam said, “Our leader Mr. Tarique Rahman has instructed the leaders and activists to stand by the people. Therefore, extortionists and looters will never have a place in BNP. BNP wants the country’s political and economic stability. Everyone must be patient in any situation. Under the leadership of Mr. Tarique Rahman, we want to build a beautiful, prosperous Bangladesh in the future.”
The mass meeting was chaired by South Surma Upazila BNP President Haji Shahabuddin and conducted by Sylhet District BNP Organizing Secretary Shamim Ahmed. The meeting was attended by Sylhet District BNP Vice President Haji Abdun Nur, Balaganj Upazila BNP President and District BNP Vice President Golam Rabbani, District BNP Publicity Secretary Lokman Ahmed, Sylhet District Jubo Dal General Secretary Moksud Ahmed, 1st Joint General Secretary Moksudul Karim Nuhel, Sylhet Metropolitan Chhatra Dal General Secretary Fazle Rabbi Ahsan, Sylhet District Mohila Dal Acting President Tahsin Sharmin Tamanna, South Surma Upazila BNP Senior Vice President Abdul Latif, Fenchuganj Upazila BNP General Secretary Taslim Ahmed Nehar, Balaganj Sadar Union Parishad Chairman Abdul Munim, North Kushiara Union Parishad Chairman Ahmed Zilu, Afzal Hossain Chairman, South Surma Upazila BNP Organizing Secretary Suhel Ibne. Raja, BNP leader Alhaj Abdul Moin, Syed Badruzzaman Khizir, Balaganj Upazila Jubo Dal convener Faizul Haque Member, Senior Joint Convener Selim Ahmed, Chhatra Dal leader Abdus Salam Tipu, Liton Ahmed, Swechchhasebak Dal leader Miftaul Kabir Mifta, South Surma Upazila Chhatra Dal convener Mizanur Rahman Mizan, Balaganj Upazila Chhatra Dal member secretary Jahangir Alam, Fenchuganj Upazila Chhatra Dal member secretary Al Maruf, along with a large number of leaders and activists of district, metropolitan BNP, Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, Sramik Dal, Mohila Dal and other associate organizations were present.
Meanwhile, after the short mass meeting, Barrister Salam took out a huge mass procession with thousands of leaders and activists. The procession ended at the intersection of Queen Bridge via Sylhet-Bangabir Road. The front part of the procession was at the Queen Bridge intersection and the last part was at Chandipool Point. Barrister M.A. Salam expressed his gratitude to everyone for making this historic programme a success peacefully.
