Shuchita Sharmin, Professor of Development Studies Department of Dhaka University, has been appointed as the new vice-chancellor of Barishal University.
She is the fifth and first woman vice-chancellor of Barishal University.
On Monday (September 23), the appointment was given in a notification signed by Shaheenur Islam, deputy secretary of education ministry.
MonirulIslam, registrar of the university confirmed the appointment of the vice-chancellor.
According to the notification, with the approval of the President and Chancellor, according to Article 10(1) of the Barishal University Act 2006, Professor Dr. Shuchita Sharmin was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of the University on five conditions.
According to the terms of appointment, her tenure as Vice-Chancellor will be four years from the date of joining. She will get pay and allowances equivalent to her present post.
