For the upcoming season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Fortune Barishal has retained Mushfiqur Rahim before the forthcoming draft. The reigning champions announced this in an official statement.
Earlier, they have signed Towhid Hridoy through a direct contract and also retained Tamim Iqbal as their captain.
Hridoy became a standout performer in the 2023 BPL while playing for Sylhet Strikers, where he showcased his T20 prowess by scoring over 400 runs in 12 innings. His impressive form led Comilla Victorians to secure him for the next season for over a crore taka.
Barishal, as a returning franchise, had the option to retain two players and sign one directly. They took advantage of this by bringing Hridoy on board. While Barishal confirmed Tamim and Mushfiq’s retention.
Similar to Barishal, Dhaka Capitals have signed Mustafizur Rahman and Tanzid Hasan Tamim through direct contracts. Meanwhile, after an 11-year absence, Chittagong Kings have returned to the BPL, signing Shakib Al Hasan and Shoriful Islam.
Alongside local players, Barishal, Chittagong, and Dhaka have secured several international stars, including Alex Hales, Moeen Ali, and David Miller.
