The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations under the Barishal Education Board will begin on Thursday, April 10, in line with the rest of the country.

A total of 84,303 eligible candidates, the majority of whom are female, are expected to participate in the exams under the Barishal Education Board. The information was confirmed by Board Chairman Professor Yunus Ali Siddiqui on Wednesday afternoon.

As part of preparations, a special control room has been set up to oversee the conduct and supervision of the exams. Additionally, 16 vigilance teams have been deployed to ensure a fair and cheating-free environment.

Meanwhile, Barishal city police have issued a public notice around 24 examination centres, banning public gatherings within a 200-yard radius to help conduct the exams smoothly.

According to Professor Siddiqui, this year’s candidates include 39,335 males and 44,968 females from 1,491 schools. The exams will be held at a total of 194 centres across six districts of the division.

“All the necessary materials, including answer sheets, have already been delivered to the centres,” he added. “Seat numbers have also been assigned and marked on the benches.”

Barishal Metropolitan Police Commissioner Shafiqul Islam said the use of loud sound systems and gatherings of more than five people within 200 yards of the exam centres are strictly prohibited.

He further stated that carrying bricks, ammunition, or explosives is also banned during the exam period.

“The police are working diligently to ensure that the exams are conducted peacefully and without disruption,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Education Board has instructed all coaching centres to remain closed until May 13, the final day of the written exams.
