Chattogram Bureau :
The commercial production of the new power plant of SS Power Plant, the country’s largest coal-based power project built by the private sector in Chittagong’s Banshkhali, has started. Through this, 1224 megawatts of electricity has been added to the country’s national grid. The power supply was started on Saturday through a function organised by SS Power Thermal Power Project.
Project Director Dipankar Majumdar said the coal-based supercritical thermal power plant energized the 400kv gas insulated switchyard and received back-feed power from Bangladesh Power Grid Company (PGCB). By this, 1224 MW of electricity has been connected to the national grid at 1:56pm. He also said that the construction of this power plant has already achieved more than 94 per cent progress.
The main construction activities of the plant have already been completed. However, even though it is coal-based, this power project will not cause any harm to the environment. This project is a huge achievement and milestone for Bangladesh and S Alam Group.of Chattogram.
