Dhaka Range DIG Rezaul Karim Mallick has issued a stern warning that no activities of banned organizations will be allowed in the Dhaka Range area.
He stated that if any individuals are found involved in activities of such organizations, immediate action will be taken against them. All Superintendents of Police (SPs) under the range have been instructed accordingly.
He made these remarks at a press conference held on Sunday at the Dhaka Range office of the police in Segunbagicha, Dhaka. Senior officials
of the range were also present at the event.
DIG Rezaul Karim said, “In the past, due to the extravagant and unprofessional conduct of some police personnel, the relationship between the police and the public was damaged.
From now on, if any police officer is found guilty of any misconduct, immediate action will be taken.”
He further stated that the police administration is working to establish police stations as trustworthy places for the general public. If any police member is involved in wrongdoing, direct hearings will be held, and disciplinary action will be taken.
During the event, he announced the launch of a mobile app named ‘Talk to DIG’, through which citizens can submit complaints or information while maintaining complete anonymity.
Issuing a warning against injustice and corruption in police stations, outposts, circles, and SP offices under the Dhaka Range, Mallick said, “Bribery and transfer trade will not be tolerated in my range. Any form of extortion will be dealt with strictly.”
The DIG emphasized that in the past, certain over-ambitious and unprofessional officers brought the entire police force into public disrepute. In this situation, the police have managed to recover and maintain law and order across the country.
He acknowledged the key role played by the Chief Advisor of the Interim Government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, in this process.
He noted that the Dhaka Range is one of the oldest, largest, and most important units of the Bangladesh Police.
Geographically, it is crucial because, except for Rangpur Division, all other divisions share borders with Dhaka Division. The capital city is surrounded by districts under this range. He said he feels honored to be entrusted with such an important responsibility.
DIG Mallick added that all police stations, outposts, circles, and SP offices under Dhaka Range will be citizen-focused. “We serve the public. Every station under my range will be for the people. In any crisis, we want the police station to be the first responder and service center.
I want to personally listen to victims and the helpless and ensure they receive proper legal assistance. We want police stations to be places of public trust and affection. In the newly independent Bangladesh, every police station in the Dhaka Range will be the first refuge for victims.”
He assured that justice will be ensured, and no one will be subjected to oppression. “Even I am not above the law,” he said. “I give you my word-if any police member under Dhaka Range is involved in any unethical or unprofessional activity, they will not be spared. If an SP or OC does anything wrong, inform me directly.
If proven, I will take departmental action. To that end, complaint boxes will be installed in every police station, outpost, camp, circle office, SP office, and my own office. If desired services are not received, service seekers can leave complaints in these boxes, and I will take immediate action.”
Announcing that he will personally monitor GDs, complaints, and cases, the DIG said that every GD, complaint, and case will be meticulously monitored by a skilled team. Monitoring centers with CCTV have been set up in all 98 police stations under Dhaka Range.
“I will speak directly via video call with service recipients and victims to ensure they receive the best possible service from the police. I want to transform every station under the Dhaka Range into a model police station of Bangladesh.”
