Digital operator Banglalink has brought home another laurel from an international platform.
Banglalink has earned the “Excellence in Digital Inclusion Award” for the “MyBL Super App: Revolutionizing Healthcare in Rural Bangladesh” campaign at the GSMA’s M360 Asia-Pacific event.

The announcement was made at the M360 APAC Digital Nations Award in Seoul, South Korea-GSMA’s annual flagship event for the Asia Pacific region.

Hande Asik, group director of strategy and communications at Veon, Banglalink’s parent company, received the award on behalf of the company on October 1.

The competition attracted submissions from 11 countries, including Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Out of all the submissions, Banglalink has won big for its MyBL Super App, which has facilitated equitable access to digital healthcare resources for underserved communities in rural Bangladesh, where healthcare services are difficult and expensive to reach.

With the majority of the country’s population residing in rural areas, and over 58% of that population refraining from seeking medical consultation due to high costs and transportation difficulties, the super app’s unique module makes availing healthcare services more affordable and convenient than ever before.

With the help of its unique healthcare module, this app has made healthcare services more accessible in the country.
As of September 2024, MyBL Super App serves around 7.8 million monthly active users.

Earlier, Banglalink won an award for the Best Sustainability Excellence Initiative in the Disaster Response category at the Bangladesh Sustainability Excellence Awards 2023 for the integration of an early warning system within the MyBL Super App during Cyclone Mocha.

Taimur Rahman, chief corporate and regulatory affairs officer of Banglalink, said: “At Banglalink, we are committed to developing solutions that empower underserved communities and bridge the nation’s digital divide.

As an innovative digital operator, Banglalink will continue to utilize technology to create sustainable digital solutions by the people for the people, so we can add value to our customers’ lives and simplify their experiences.”
