In a tragic incident at the Kulaura border in Moulvibazar, a Bangladeshi teenage girl was shot dead by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF).
The incident occurred on Sunday night in the Lalarchak border area of Sharifpur Union, under the Kulaura upazila.
The deceased has been identified as 14-year-old Swarna Das, daughter of Parendra Das, a resident of Kalnigar village in Juri upazila of Moulvibazar district.
According to reports, following the shooting, the BSF took possession of the body.
On Monday evening, a team from the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) 46 Battalion visited Swarna’s home, prompting the news
to spread rapidly throughout the area.
Naik Obaid, the patrol commander of the Lalarchak Border Outpost (BOP) under BGB’s 46th Battalion, stated that the incident occurred when several Bangladeshi nationals attempted to cross into India illegally.
“One of them was killed by BSF gunfire,” he said, confirming the unfortunate event.
Further investigations into the incident are ongoing, and the authorities are in communication with their Indian counterparts to resolve the situation and retrieve the body.
