Industries Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan emphasised the need to enhance the activities of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) to accelerate industrial development across the region.
His remarks came during a meeting with Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Pranay Verma, at the Ministry of Industries in Dhaka on Tuesday, according to a press release.
In their discussion, both officials exchanged views on various topics, including cooperation in the field of industrial development between Bangladesh and India.
The adviser highlighted the importance of SAARC as a platform for fostering economic growth and collaboration in the industrial sector among South Asian nations.Pranay Verma, on the other hand, underscored the significance of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) for regional development.
He pointed out that BIMSTEC offers a strategic opportunity for countries in the Bay of Bengal region to enhance economic and technical cooperation for mutual benefit. Senior officials from the Ministry of Industries were present at the meeting, demonstrating the ministry’s commitment to advancing collaborative initiatives with neighboring countries to promote regional growth and industrial progress.
