Bangladesh U-20 Football team in semis of SAFF U-20 Champ

Bangladesh Under-20 (U-20) National Football team stormed into the semi-finals of the SAFF Under-20 Championship defeating Sri Lanka Under-20 National Football team by two goals to nil in their Group-A match on Tuesday at the ANFA Complex in Nepal.

Mirazul Islam and Piash Ahmed Nova scored one goal each for Bangladesh team.

Mirazul Islam put his team ahead by struck the ball into the net using a left side cross of his teammate Rabby Hossen Rahul in the 18th minute of the play. After scoring the first goal, Mirazul dedicated his goal in favour of Shaheed Abu Sayed and Mugdho, who presented their valuable lives during the students’ and peoples’ movement of Bangladesh recently.

After the lemon-break, Piash Ahmmed Nova entered the Sri Lanka D-box and got the Lanka custodian alone and made no mistake to defeat the Lanka custodian and put the ball into the net in the 85th minute of the game.

Earlier, Dukhu Mia missed an opportunity in the 29th minute of the match when he got a free-kick from his teammate Rahul but Dukhu Mia failed to hit the ball from two or three yards near the goalpost.

In the 78th minute of the clash, Piash Ahmed Nova got the Lanka golie alone but his shot narrowly passed the goalbar.

Sri Lanka got a chance in the 58th minute. But Sian Ahmed Shaheel’s shot Bangladesh custodian Mehidi Hasan Srabon gripped the ball by jumping his right side.

Bangladesh got another opportunity in the injury time of the second half. Mirazul got the Lanka custodian alone but he struck the ball straightly to Lanka goalie’s body.
Bangladesh will take on Nepal in their last Group-A match tomorrow at the same venue.
