Lahore Qalandars clinched their third Pakistan Super League (PSL) title on Sunday in dramatic fashion, thanks to a stunning late assault by Sikandar Raza and Kusal Perera. Needing 71 off the final 30 balls, the duo launched a calculated counterattack.
While Mohammad Amir troubled them in the 18th over, Raza smashed a four and a six off his last two balls to reclaim momentum. Perera followed up with a 16-run over off Khurram Shahzad, reducing the equation to 31 off 12 balls.
Perera struck Amir for three boundaries in the penultimate over, yielding 18 runs and leaving just 13 required from the final six deliveries. Although Faheem Ashraf kept things tight initially, Raza hammered a six and a four off the last two balls to seal a thrilling victory for Lahore.
Lahore Qalandars lifted their third PSL trophy in style with this six-wicket win.
Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz were benched for the PSL 2025 final, while leg-spinner Rishad Hossain, the only Bangladeshi was in the playing XI, took 1 wicket but was expensive-conceding 42 runs in 4 overs.
Chasing 201, Lahore got off to a strong start with Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Naim, but Abrar Ahmed struck early, dismissing Fakhar for 11. Naim’s explosive 27-ball 46 kept the momentum going until he was caught off Faheem Ashraf. Abdullah Shafique contributed 41 before falling to Usman Tariq.
Kusal Perera and Bhanuka Rajapaksa tried to rebuild but the latter was dismissed for 14 by Mohammad Amir. Sikandar Raza entered and immediately accelerated.
