Joty hits ton: Bangladesh thrash Thailand in Women’s WC Qualifiers

Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team thrashed Thailand Women’s Cricket team by 178 runs in their first match of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s World Cup (WC) Qualifiers at Lahore City Cricket Association Ground in Pakistan on Thursday.
Sent into bat first, Bangladesh women piled up a mammoth total of 271 for the loss of three wickets in the allotted 50 overs and then shot out Thailand women for 93 off 28.5 overs.
Bangladesh had a sorrow start as opener Ishma Tanjim (8) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Nannapat Kancharoenkai off Phannita Maya when the Tigresses’ total was just 15.
After Ishma’s dismissal, Fargana Hoque and Sharmin Akter put on together 104 runs in the second wicket stand before Fargana Hoque was dismissed by Onnicha Kamchomphu when Bangladesh’s score was 119 for the loss of two wickets.
Fargana Hoque hit a superb 53. Her 82-ball innings was studded with four fours.
After Fargana’s departure, Sharmin Akhter and Nigar Sultana Joty contributed together 152 runs for the third wicket stand before Joty was dismissed by Thipatcha Putthawong when the Tigresses’ total was 271 for the loss of three wickets.
Joty notched up a splendid 101. Her 80-ball innings was laced with 15 fours and a sixer. Joty was adjudged the Player of the Match for her outstanding batting display.
Sharmin Akter remained unbeaten with 94 runs. She hit 11 fours in her 126-ball knock.
Phannita Maya, Thipatcha Putthawong and Omnicha Kamchomphu took one wicket each conceding 28, 41 and 58 runs respectively.
Later, Jannatul Ferdus and Fahima Khatun bowled really well. They played the key role in demolishing Thailand innings. Jannatul Ferdus and Fahima Khatun captured five wickets each instead of seven and 21 runs respectively.
Chanida Sutthiruang, Nattaya Boochatham and Naruemol Chaiwai could reach the double digit figures scoring 22, 17 and 15 runs respectively.
