Bangladesh is currently reviewing its tariffs on products imported from the United States, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam confirmed on Thursday.
“The National Board of Revenue (NBR) is identifying options to rationalize tariffs expeditiously, which is necessary to address the matter,” Alam stated in a Facebook post this morning.
Highlighting the strong trade relationship between the two nations, he emphasized that the US is Bangladesh’s largest export destination and a close ally.
Alam further noted that the interim government has been collaborating with the US since the Trump administration to enhance bilateral trade and investment ties.
“Our ongoing work with the US government is expected to help address the tariff issue,” he added.
The review process comes as part of Bangladesh’s broader strategy to facilitate trade relations and ensure a balanced economic partnership with key global partners.
