Bangladesh reported 37 new deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the fatalities to 746.
It has detected 2,695 new cases of coronavirus infections across the country in the same period.
‘’With the new cases, the total number of infections are now stand at 55,140,” Professor Dr. Nasima Sultana Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Dr. Sultana said the recovery count also rose to 11,590 after another 470 patients were released from hospitals in the same period, DGHS Additional Director General Nasima Sultana said in a regular press briefing in Dhaka.
She said also that the recovery rate from COVID-19 currently stands at 21.02 percent while the mortality rate is 1.35 percent.
The DGHS official said total 12,510 samples were tested at 50 authorised laboratories across the country during the period.
Bangladesh confirmed first detection of Covid-19 patient on March 8. It has reported its first death from the virus at March 18.
