Bangladesh received US $735 million in remittances in the first seven days of May, showing a 23.3 percent year-on-year growth compared to the same period last year.
According to data released by Bangladesh Bank on Monday, expatriates sent $735 million from May 1 to 7, while the amount was $601 million during the corresponding period of 2024.
From July 2024 to May 7, Bangladesh received a record $25.27 billion in remittances, up from $19.72 billion during the same period in the previous fiscal year.
In the first 10 months (July-April) of the ongoing fiscal year 2024–25, expatriates remitted $24.54 billion, surpassing the total remittance received in the entire FY 2023–24.
