Bangladesh-Pakistan match abandoned

The Group-A match of the ICC Champions Trophy between Bangladesh Cricket team and Pakistan Cricket team was abandoned due to heavy rain on Thursday.

The coin session was not held at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Pakistan for persistent rain. The heavy downpour washed out the arena. Thus, the match was washed out without any ball was delivered. The match was scheduled to start at 3:00pm.

After waiting at least one and half our, the Match Referee called off the match.
It was the last Group-A match between Bangladesh and Pakistan.

By virtue of persistent rain, the match between Bangladesh and Pakistan was washed out and the Tigers and Pakistan earned one point each from three matches. Bangladesh and host Pakistan were ousted from the tournament. It was a dead rubber match for the both sides.

Though Bangladesh and Pakistan gained one point each, but by virtue of better run rate Bangladesh became third in Group-A, while Pakistan finished fourth in the same group.

On the other hand, New Zealand and India confirmed their semi-final berth from Group-A. New Zealand and India collected four points each from their respective two matches.

New Zealand and India will face each other on March 2 at Dubai International Stadium in the UAE. The winning team of that match will be the champions of the Group-A.

On the other hand, if the match will be washed out, New Zealand will be the Group-A champions as they have better run rate than India.
