Bangladesh observes Eid-e-Miladunnabi with reverence and reflection

Bangladesh is commemorating Eid-e-Miladunnabi today with solemnity and devotion, marking both the birth and passing of the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM). The holy day is observed on the 12th of Rabiul Awal in the Hijri calendar, commemorating the year 570 when Muhammad (SM) was born in Makkah and later passed away on the same day.

In recognition of the significance of this day, President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Chief Adviser to the interim government, Prof Muhammad Yunus, have issued messages of goodwill and reflection.

President Shahabuddin highlighted the sacredness of Eid-e-Miladunnabi, describing it as a momentous occasion for Muslims globally. He emphasized that Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) was sent as ‘Rahmatullil Alamin,’ a divine blessing for the entire world. “He emerged as ‘Sirajam Monira,’ the enlightened light amidst darkness, guiding humanity towards truth, beauty, and justice,” the President stated. He also noted that the Prophet’s teachings from his final Hajj remain a beacon for mankind, urging followers to work for the betterment of their communities and humanity in line with the Prophet’s noble ideals.

In his message, Chief Adviser Prof Yunus spoke about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as a messenger of peace and progress. He noted that Muhammad (PBUH) addressed and overcame prejudices, injustices, and slavery, promoting a message of peace and brotherhood. Prof Yunus emphasized that the Prophet’s teachings are crucial for fostering peace, justice, and welfare in today’s world. “The noble ideals and Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) offer a path to infinite welfare, success, and peace for Muslims,” he added.

To mark the occasion, Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar are airing special programs, and various national dailies are publishing supplements highlighting the significance of the day. As a public holiday, citizens across the country are engaged in reflection and observance.
