Bangladesh has emerged as the ninth largest economy in the Asian region, excluding Japan, according to the latest statistics released by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Daily Sun reported.
With a nominal GDP of $450.5 billion in 2024, Bangladesh continues its steady economic rise, securing its position as the second largest economy in South Asia after India.
According to the ADB data, in the broader Asian context—excluding Japan—Bangladesh ranks behind major regional economies such as China, India, South Korea, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
This achievement reflects Bangladesh’s robust economic progress, driven by a thriving manufacturing sector, increasing remittance inflows, and a growing domestic market.
