Bangladesh Kindergarten Association Sylhet holds Press conference
Sylhet Bureau :
The leaders of the Bangladesh Kindergarten Association Sylhet district have demanded that kindergarten and private primary school students be given the opportunity to participate in the 2025 government primary scholarship exam. They made this demand at a press conference at the Sylhet Press Club on Tuesday.
At the press conference, the teacher leaders said that they have come to know about a circular issued by the Department of Primary Education on July 17 that deprived kindergarten and private primary school students of the opportunity to participate in the scholarship exam. Terming this circular as discriminatory, they said that depriving a large number of vulnerable children from the opportunity to participate in the scholarship exam just because the school’s accreditation is different is against the national education policy. They commented that depriving vulnerable children of this right through discrimination is unacceptable.
In a written statement at the press conference, the organization’s member secretary Md. Muhib Ullah said that students of private primary schools have achieved great success by participating in the primary final examination from 2009 to 2019 and the scholarship examination of 2022. He said that scholarships are not just financial grants but also the confidence of the student, social recognition and motivation to move forward in their educational life. If students of private schools cannot participate in the primary scholarship examination, the government will have to bear all the responsibility for the mental pressure and pain faced by the students and their families.
At the press conference, it was demanded to cancel the circular of July 17 and give equal rights to the tender students of kindergarten and private primary schools as participants in primary education, including the primary scholarship examination to be held in 2025, and other activities taken for primary education. If the demand is not implemented by August 20, it was warned that strict programs including the March for Dhaka will be announced, including the siege of the District Primary Education Office and the offices of the Divisional Deputy Director. Bangladesh Kindergarten Association, Sylhet district leaders also said that a memorandum will be submitted to the Chief Advisor through the Deputy Commissioner to implement this demand.
