A 10-day-long Bangladesh-India Nazrul Conference commemorating the Nazrul song artiste Sohrab Hossain was held recently
in different districts of the country including Dhaka from January 26 to February 3.
The conference was inaugurated at Shaheed M Mansur Ali Auditorium in Sirajganj. Lawmaker of reserved women seat Selina Begum inaugurated the conference as
the chief guest while Zila Parishad
Chairman and former minister Abdul Latif Biswas was present as special guest.
District administration and Nazrul Academy organised the conference with Deputy Director of Local Government Division
Abu Nur Mohammad Shamsuzzaman
in the chair.
Among others, Superintendant of Police Miraj Uddin Ahmed, Liberation War Organiser Advocate KM Hossain Ali Hasan, Sammilito Sangskritik Jote President Asaduddin Pablu, Zila Nazrul Academy President Helal Ahmed, General Secretary Surja Bari and leaders of Kolkata-based organisation Agniveena, were also present.
Later the conference was held at Rabindra Kachari Bari Auditorium in Shahjadpur,
on the premises of Kotiyadi Govt College
in Kishoreganj on January 27 and 28
respectively. Where local MPs were
present on the occasion.
On January 30, the conference took place at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Dhaka which was inaugurated by Khilkhil Kazi.
A total of 80 including newcomer singers from Bangladesh and India performed.
On January 31, Indian artistes rendered Nazrul songs at Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, while on February 1 it was arranged at Nazrul Square, DC Hill in Chittagong where Chittagong Mayor was present
as the chief guest.
The event of February 2 and 3 were took place at Zila Shilpakala Academy, Feni where DC Monj Kumar Roy was present.
The 10-day conference was wrapped up with the rendition of the song titled Aamar
bhaiyer roktey rangano by General Secretary
of Nazrul Academy Mintu Rahman. n
