Bangladesh in Group-C of Women’s Asian Cup

Bangladesh, Myanmar, Bahrain, Turkmenistan are in Group-C of Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers.
The draw ceremony of Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers was held at the Headquarters of AFC in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia on Thursday.
A total of 34 teams splitted into eight groups will take part in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers. Four teams each are in six groups, while five teams each are in two groups.
The champions of the eight groups will take part in the final round of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup. Reigning champions China and top two teams South Korea and Japan will play in the final phase. The final round will be held on March 1 to March 26 in 2026.
The qualifiers match will be held on June 23 to July 5. Myanmar is the other contender of the champions of the Group-C.
Earlier, Bangladesh Under-16 Women’s Football team played in the final round of the 2017 and 2019. Bangladesh Women’s Senior Football team never ever played in the final round of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup.
The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) did not send Bangladesh Women’s Football team in Olympic qualifiers 2023 which was held in Myanmar. The Bangladesh Women’s Football team are the defending champions of the 2023.
The BFF faced criticism for that decision. The BFF showed that they had financial crisis. This time the Group-C qualifiers of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup will be held in Myanmar.
The BFF will start the preparation camp for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers from the first week of April. The BFF has called 55 female booters for the residential cam marking the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers. The senior players including Sabina Khatun have been called by BFF. But it is a question that if they will take part in the coaching camp under supervision of Head Coach Peter Butler. On the other hand, It is also a question that if Peter Butler will conduct the training camp including senior players.
