Bangladesh High Performance (HP) team finished runners-up in the Top End T20 series as they lost to Adelaide Strikers by 32 runs in the final on Sunday at Marrara Oval in Darwin of Australia. By virtue of yesterday’s victory, Adelaide Strikers became champions in the competition.
Put into bat first, Adelaide Strikers piled up a fighting total of 169 for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
In reply, Bangladesh HP team were all out for 137 off 19.5 overs.
Bangladesh made a good start as openers Tanzid Hasan and Jishan Alam contributed together 32 runs in the opening stand before Jishan Alam was caught behind by wicketkeeper Harry Mathias.
After dismissal of Jishan Alam, Bangladesh batters failed to build any notable partnership.
Tanzid Hasan notched up a fine 35. His 29-ball innings was belted with two fours and a sixer.
In-form Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby made 21 runs from 19 deliveries featuring three fours.
Second-down Afif Hossain scored 18 runs from 13 balls including two fours.
Opener Jishan Alam hit 18 using 19 balls with one four.
Lloyd Pope, Jordan Buckingham, Tim Oakley, Liam Scott and Noah McFayden claimed two wickets each for 20, 22, 27, 28 and 28 runs respectively.
Earlier, one-down Tom O’Connell cracked a windy 53. His 33-ball innings was ornamented with five fours and two sixes.
Ryan King hit a fine 35. His 19-ball knock was decorated with five fours.
Skipper Liam Scott hit a captain’s knock of 30. his 18-ball innings had two sixes and two fours. Liam Scott was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Ripon Mondol bagged two wickets in the space of 37 runs, while Afif Hossain, Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby and Rakibul Hasan picked up one wicket each for 12, 14 and 34 runs respectively.
