SAFF Women's Champ: Bangladesh defeat India

Bangladesh National Women’s Football team defeated India National Women’s Football team 3-1 in their second Group-A match of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Women’s Championship at Dasharath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, on Wednesday.

By virtue of yesterday’s victory, Bangladesh women emerged the Group-A champions and stormed into the semi-final.

Bangladesh gained four points from two matches, while India became Group-A runners-up with three points from as many outings. Bangladesh totally dominated over India and earned the victory, which they deserved it.
All the four goals scored before the lemon-break.

Afeida Khandakar put her team ahead in the 15th minute of the match. Indian goalie failed to grip a flag-kick of Sabina Khatun. Thus Afeida made no mistake to put the ball into the blank net.

In the 29th minute, Tahura Khatun got a ball from a volley of her teammate Ritu Porna Chakma and the ball went into the goalbar after touching the body of Tohura Khatun (2-0).

Tohura Khatun made it 3-0 by a forceful shot in the 43rd minute of the match. Tuhura got the ball on her way at the Indian D-box from a pass of her teammate Shamsunnahar (Senior).

In the 44th minute, Bangladesh goalie failed to grip a cross of a Dalima of India. Thus, Bala Devy decreased the margin by a header.
Earlier, India defeated Pakistan by 5-2 goals in their first Group-A match at the same venue on October 17.
Bangladesh drew 1-1 with Pakistan in their first Group-A match at the same venue on October 20.
