Bangladesh-Bhutan 1st FIFA Int’l friendly match today

Bangladesh National Football team will take on Bhutan National Football team in the first FIFA International friendly match today at Changlimithang Stadium in Thimpu, the capital city of Bhutan. The game will kick-off at 6:00pm (Bangladesh Standard Time).

Before today’s match, Bangladesh faced Bhutan in 14 matches. Of them, Bangladesh registered 11 victories, while Bhutan won one match and rest of the two occasions ended in draws.

According to the latest FIFA rankings, Bangladesh have taken the 184th position, while Bhutan have taken the 182nd spot.

Bangladesh team reached Thimpu on August 30 to play two FIFA International friendly football matches against Bhutan. Bangladesh will face Bhutan in the second FIFA International friendly match at the same venue on September 8.

Bangladesh National Football squad took part in their practice sessions under supervision of their Head Coach Javier Cabrera. It may be mentioned that the Bangladeshi booters will play against Bhutan in turf.
Bangladesh will play two FIFA International friendly matches to improve their FIFA ranking.

Head Coach Javier Cabrera thinks that the upcoming two FIFA International friendly football matches against Bhutan will be challenging for Bangladesh.

The booters of Bangladesh have faced tough task to adapt with the conditions of Bhutan.
Javier Cabrera spoke at a pre-match press conference at Thimpu on Wednesday.

He said, ” We know there is a challenge for us in the ensuing match against Bhutan. We are facing challenge to adapt the conditions of Bhutan as the playing ground is situated in high level from the sea.”

“We have come here to win the two matches against Bhtan. The next year is very important for us as there are lot of football competitions will be held in 2005. Bangladesh will participate in those football meets.

We are giving importance the two FIFA International friendly matches as part of the preparation of next football competitions.”

It is noteworthy that Bangladesh Under-20 National Football team emerged the champions of the SAFF Under-20 Championship recently. Javier Cabrera included a good number of booters from that team in Bangladesh National Football squad.
