The Government of Bangladesh has strongly condemned the resumption of Israeli military aggression in the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in a significant loss of innocent civilian lives, including women and children.

Expressing deep concern over the renewed attacks, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on Wednesday that such actions would further worsen the already dire humanitarian crisis in the region.

According to the ministry, this escalation of violence constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and a serious disregard for established ceasefire agreements.

“Bangladesh unequivocally condemns the continued indiscriminate airstrikes by Israeli occupation forces on densely populated civilian areas, which have intensified human suffering and caused devastating consequences for the defenceless Palestinian population,” the statement read.

The Government of Bangladesh calls on Israel to immediately halt all military operations, exercise maximum restraint, and uphold its obligations under international humanitarian law.

Bangladesh also urges the international community, particularly the United Nations, to take urgent and decisive action to end hostilities, safeguard civilian lives, and ensure the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to the besieged people of Gaza.

Reaffirming its principled stance on justice and human rights, Bangladesh reiterates its unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Bangladesh further stresses the necessity of resuming dialogue to achieve a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in the Middle East, which is essential for ensuring regional and global stability.

The government urges all parties to prioritise diplomacy and peaceful negotiations to put an end to the ongoing violence and suffering of the Palestinian people.

Bangladesh remains committed to working alongside the international community to find a lasting solution to the Palestinian issue, in line with the principles of international law, United Nations resolutions, and the aspirations of the Palestinian people for peace, dignity, and justice.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel had “resumed combat in full force.” The airstrikes on the Gaza Strip have resulted in over 400 deaths, violating the two-month ceasefire.

On Wednesday, the United Nations reported that two of its workers had been killed, and several others injured after a UN compound in Gaza was damaged. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.

Several countries, including Bangladesh, have strongly condemned the renewed Israeli attacks on civilians.
