Bangladesh Army warns public against fake statement circulating online
NN Online:
The Bangladesh Army has issued a strong warning to the public, urging citizens not to be misled by a fake statement circulating on social media that falsely claims to represent members of the Armed Forces.
In a public notice posted on its official Facebook page around 12:30pm on Friday, the Army clarified that the document in question is completely fabricated and does not reflect the views of any branch of the military. The notice also included a screenshot of the forged press release, which falsely cited unnamed soldiers and junior officers from the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
“Recently, a vested group has published a fake press release using the logo of the Bangladesh Armed Forces,” the statement said. “This appears to be a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and create division between the armed forces and the people.”
The Army emphasized the importance of verifying any information before accepting or sharing it, particularly on digital platforms. It also urged the public to remain vigilant and cautious against such disinformation campaigns.
Authorities have not yet confirmed who is behind the false statement, but the Army assured that it remains committed to safeguarding national unity and stability.
