Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam has said the Bangladesh government is committed to transforming the country into a global manufacturing hub by boosting industrial capacity, attracting foreign investments, and enacting key policy reforms.
“Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus wants to increase investment and create employment at home and abroad. To this end, he is presenting Bangladesh to the whole world as a manufacturing hub,” Shafiqul said at a press briefing in the Foreign Service Academy on Tuesday.
“It will be a milestone visit. On Friday morning [March 28], there will be a meeting of Chinese President Xi Jinping with the chief adviser. This is very important. Our focus will be to talk to Chinese investors, Chinese manufacturing companies, Chinese energy companies, and the top companies in China.”
Alam said as part of his economic diplomacy, Prof Yunus is presenting Bangladesh before the world as a manufacturing hub.
The interim government is taking all possible policy measures to build Bangladesh as a manufacturing hub and works are on to provide one stop service for all so that foreign firms do not face any hassle to invest in the country’s private sector, he said.
“In addition, all the other services, be it the NBR or central bank, can be implemented simultaneously. The main goal is to create a lot of jobs in Bangladesh. Taking Bangladesh’s economic growth to a new scale, to a new height, there will be a focus throughout the visit,” Shafiqul continued.
“India and China are all friends of Bangladesh. The chief adviser says we want good relations with India. We want to increase economic cooperation,” he added.
