Bangabandhu’s birth centenary celebrated at IU

The Birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day-2021 was celebrated at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia in a befitting manner on Wednesday.
Following the day, IU authority arranged a series of programme including hoisting of flag, releasing balloon, laying of floral wreaths, cutting cakes and discussions programme.
IU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Shaikh Abdus Salam inaugurated the series of programme hoisting the national flag while acting registrar M Ataur Rahman hoisted the university flag in front of the administrative building on the university.
After hoisting the flag, the teachers, officers and students of the university brought out a colorful procession led by vice-chancellor Dr Shaikh Salam from the administrative building along with acting registrar M Ataur Rahman.
The procession was ended in front of ‘Mrittunjoye Mujib’ moral adjacent to the university main entrance after parading the main streets of university.
IU authority, IU Teachers Association, Shapla Forum, Bangabandhu Parishad, Officers Association, Jatir Pita Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall, Lalon Shah Hall, Sheikh Hasina Hall, IU BCL unit and IU press club, later, paid homage to the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing floral wreaths at the Bangabandhu’s Moral ‘Mrittunjoye Mujib’.
Later, a discussion ceremony was held at the VC’s conference room of the university administrative building on the campus around 12:00pm.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Shaikh Salam delivered the speech at event as the chief guest while registrar in-charge M Ataur Rahman was present as the special guest conducted by Professor Dr M Anowar Hossain, convener of the Bangabandhu’s Birth centenary and National Children’s Day celebration committee.
More than 300 hundred teachers, officers and students from various disciplines took part at the discussion event.
While addressing the programme, the VC urged the new generation to be connected with the ideology of Bangabandhu. Simplicity and honesty are the best characteristics of Bangabandhu’s life.
These qualities were noticed at the early age of Bangabandhu. Our children will become good human beings absorbing the philosophy of Bangabandhu,” he said.
After completion the discussion programme, IU authorities cut the cake on the occasion of birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day while a special Munajat was offered seeking eternal peace of the Father of the nation. Observing the Bangabandhu’s birth centenary IU BCL unit and Khaleda Zia Hall also cut the cake.
