Bangabandhu Cup Int’l Kabaddi to begin on May 23

The Bangabandhu Cup 2024 International Kabaddi Tournament will begin on May 23 at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur.

Marking the upcoming gala kabaddi meet, a press conference was held at the Dutch-Bangla Bank Auditorium in Bangladesh Olympic Association Bhaban on Monday.

President of Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation and Inspector General of Bangladesh Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, Member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Youth and Sports Mashrafe Bin Mortaza were present at the conference, among others.

The international kabaddi competition will come to an end on June 3.

A total of 12 countries will take part in the gala extravaganza. Hosts Bangladesh, Poland, Kenya, Uganda, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Iraq, Sri Lanka and Nepal will take part in the fourth edition of the mega kabaddi competition.

Earlier, the three editions of Bangabandhu Cup International Kabaddi Tournament were held at the Shaheed Noor Hossain Volleyball Stadium. The first edition was held in 2021, while the second edition was held in 2022 and the third edition was held in 2023.

In 2021, a total of five countries took part in the first edition of the kabaddi competition, while a number of eight countries participated in 2022 and a total of 12 countries competed in 2023.
