A team of weavers expert in making sarees, jewellery and bags from the banana fibres paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganabhaban on Tuesday afternoon.
The Prime Minister spoke to the team members and inquired about their wellbeing, said a press release of the premier’s Press Wing.
At this time, Anjali Devi of Moulvibazar, who is the artisan of the saree from the banana fibre, showed the sarees and explained about the process of their making to the Prime Minister, reports BSS.
The Prime Minister in a warm gesture held hands of Radhabati Devi, the weaver of the first saree and took her in front of the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and took pictures with all.
The Prime Minister presented some gifts to the members of the team.
