Ban on foreign travel for Henry, husband and children

A court in Dhaka on Thursday imposed travel ban on Jannat Ara Talukder Henry, her husband and children responding to an application filed by the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).
Mohammad Ash-Shams Jaglul Hossain, Senior Special Judge of Dhaka Metropolitan Court issued the order on Thursday.
Aminul Islam, Assistant Prosecutor of ACC confirmed the matter to the media.
Earlier, ACC Assistant Director Asif Al Mahmoud submitted an application to the court on Wednesday (September 18) seeking a ban on the departure of Jannat Ara Talukder Henry, her husband Shamim Talukder Labu and daughter Muntaha Ridayi Lam.
It was said in the petition that, Henry and her husband have concealed the information of their illegal money, other movable and immovable assets beyond the known income.
During the investigation, ACC came to know that, Henry and her family members may leave country deceiving the law enforcers’ eyes anytime. That is why, it is necessary to stop them from going abroad.
Apart from this, on the same day, the court also banned Wahida Rahman Chowdhury, the former commissioner of the National Board of Revenue (NBR)’s large taxpayer unit, from leaving the country.
The court gave this order in view of the application of ACC Assistant Director Shah Alam Sheikh.
