A court of Dhaka refused bail to BNP Standing Committee member ASM Hannan Shah in three cases filed on the charges of violence during the Hefazat-e-Islam rally at Motijheel hub on May 5, last year.
Dhaka’s Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Jahurul Haque passed the order on Tuesday after hearing. Meanwhile, the High Court directed the police not to arrest and harass retired Brigadier General Hannan Shah without appropriate legal proceedings.
Retired Brigadier General Hannan Shah was shown arrested in the cases after he was detained on
Nov 25 from the city’s Baridhara area. Pro-BNP lawyers including Sanaullah Mia, Mohsin Mia and Emdadul Haque Lal moved the bail petitions on behalf of Hannan Shah.
