A workshop on the management of import, transportation, storage, and distribution of non-urea fertilizers under the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) was held on Monday at the seminar hall of the Agriculture Bhaban, BADC headquarters.
The event was organized by BADC and attended by senior officials including Dr. Mohammad Emdadullah Mian, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, who was the chief guest.
Additional Secretary and Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, along with other officials from BADC, were also present, says a press release.
In his welcome speech, the Chairman of BADC highlighted that under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, BADC has been efficiently managing the import of non-urea fertilizers through government contracts with various countries and ensuring their timely delivery to farmers across the country.
He emphasized that due to proper fertilizer management, no artificial shortage of non-urea fertilizers has been reported anywhere in the country.
The Chairman further mentioned ongoing efforts to reclaim BADC warehouses currently used by other organizations for safer and more balanced fertilizer storage. Some warehouses have already been recovered.
He urged all officials to work with a sense of responsibility and accountability to enable BADC to contribute more significantly to the agricultural sector.
