NN Online :
The interim government has decided to ban the Awami League from all political activities under the Anti-Terrorism Act amid waves of protests over the last two days.
Emerging from an emergency meeting of the Advisory Council on Saturday night, Law Advisor Asif Nazrul announced the decision.
He said the meeting had reached three key decisions.
“The necessary circular will be issued on the next working day,” he added.

According to the statement, the council approved a significant amendment to the International Crimes Tribunal Act during the meeting. Under the amended law, the International Crimes Tribunal will now have the authority to punish any political party, its affiliates, or its support groups.

The meeting further resolved that until the trial of the Bangladesh Awami League and its leaders at the International Crimes Tribunal is concluded, all activities of the party—including those in cyberspace—will be banned under the Anti-Terrorism Act, in order to protect national security, sovereignty, the safety of July Movement activists, and the security of the tribunal’s plaintiffs and witnesses.

It was also announced that a formal circular regarding this matter will be issued on the next working day.

Additionally, the meeting decided to finalize and publish the July Declaration within the next 30 working days.
