As part of a social rehabilitation initiative, battery-run auto-rickshaws and bicycles were distributed among persons with disabilities, beggars, and village police members in Madhupur upazila of Tangail on Wednesday.
The event, jointly organized by the Madhupur Upazila Parishad and the Department of Social Services, took place at the Upazila Parishad premises at around 11:00 AM.
Deputy Commissioner Sharifa Haque attended as chief guest and handed over 6 battery-powered auto-rickshaws to selected persons with disabilities and beggars, while 22 bicycles were distributed among members of the village police. Additionally, dry food packages were distributed to 57 ultra-poor individuals.

The program was presided over by Madhupur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Zubayer Hossain. Also present were: Rifat Anjum Pia, Assistant Commissioner (Land), Mostafa Hossain, Upazila Social Services Officer, Rajib Al Rana, Upazila Project Implementation Officer
The initiative aims to promote self-reliance among the disabled and marginalized communities through sustainable alternative livelihoods.
