An Australian visa centre is set to open in Dhaka by the end of March, Home Ministry Senior Secretary Nasimul Ghani said on Monday.
This move will make the visa application process more accessible for Bangladeshi citizens, who previously had to apply through the Australian visa centre in New Delhi.
The announcement came after the signing ceremony of a standard operating procedure for the return of Bangladeshi citizens to Bangladesh, between the governments of Bangladesh and Australia.
Nasimul said the visa centre will begin operations in Dhaka soon and visa issuance may commence shortly after Eid.
Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury attended the event as the chief guest.
