Man hit by miscreants’ tubewell handle in Joypurhat
A woman named Nurunnahar Begum (47) was killed and her niece Khatija Khatun (16) was seriously injured. The incident took place in Chirla village of Joypurhat Sadar upazila late on Tuesday night. Joypurhat Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nazmul Hossain confirmed the matter.
The deceased, Nurunnahar Begum, is the daughter of Gafur Mandal of Chirla village in Sadar upazila. The injured, Khatija Khatun, is Nurunnahar Begum’s niece. Police and locals said the deceased were Nurunnahar Begum and her niece. Khatija Khatun was sleeping in the same room. Late at night, the miscreants entered the house, hit them on the head with the handle of a tubewell and fled. Later, they were taken to Joypurhat General Hospital in serious condition. As their condition was critical, Nurunnahar died on the way to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. Khatija Khatun has been admitted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
Joypurhat Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge OC Nazmul Hossain said that the body was recovered at the spot and sent to the Joypurhat 250-bed General Hospital morgue. What was the motive behind this murder? Action will be taken after investigation.
