LGRD and Cooperatives Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain formally inaugurated the ‘July Art Work’ graffiti painted on the Agargaon to Karwan Bazar metro rail pillars with the overall support of the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Friday.

DNCC Administrator Mohammad Ejaz presided over the event at the Agargaon Metro Rail Station in the capital, said a press release, reports BSS.

Asif Mahmud said, “These graffiti will repeatedly remind us of the terrible days of the Awami League dictatorship and the history of the people’s courageous resistance.”

These graffiti will play an important role in ensuring that no dictatorship can rise up again in this country in future, he said.

According to the press release the July artwork, painted with the theme “Language of Walls: Memory, Resistance and History of the People,” presents a powerful picture of the historical July 2024 student-public uprising and the cultural and political resistance against the fascist regime.

The murals depict the horrific chapter of political repression in Bangladesh from 2009 to 2024 and various scenes, processions, clashes, arrests, and sacrifices of the 36-day July 2024 uprising, he said.
