In a bid to raise awareness on sexual exploitation and trafficking of children, a daylong artwork exhibition of disadvantaged children was held at Chhayanaut Bhaban at Dhanmondi in the capital on Thursday, said a press release.
A total of 65 artworks, done by disadvantaged children (street children and others at risk of trafficking), were on display at the event titled ‘Artwork Exhibition: Through the Eyes of Survivors.’
Children of Dhaka, Rajbari and Faridpur districts, through their own artworks, highlighted different issues of children such as child rights, commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking.
Farhana Afroze, Assistant Director, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, attended as the chief guest, while Khondokar Moniruzzaman, Secretary of Community based Child Protection Committee, and A K M Masud Ali, Executive Director of INCIDIN Bangladesh, were present as special guests.
With the support of USA-based organisation Freedom Fund, rights-based organization INCIDIN Bangladesh, Shapla Mohila Sangstha and Karmojibi Kalyan Sangstha jointly organized the event.
A large number of people, including officials from Department of Social Services, Department of Birth and Death Registration, Counter Trafficking Committee, Office of the District Commissioner, Civil Society Organisations and children, visited the exhibition, which was open to all, from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
