Entertainment Report :

During the anti-discrimination students’ movement, the role of Actors’ Equity Bangladesh, the organisation of TV drama artistes, was questioned.
Many artistes have lost their faith in the organisation recently after the conversations of the secret WhatsApp group ‘Alo Ashbei’ were leaked because many members of the Actors’ Equity BD were involved in that group.
After that, many have raised the demand for the reform of the organisation.
In that perspective, the performers sat in discussions at Ground Zero of the capital on Saturday.
The Actors’ Equity BD has been asked to apologise for the discriminatory treatment of artistes and unprofessional behaviour during the anti-discrimination students’ movement.
If the apology is not sought within three days, the current committee has been demanded to be dissolved.
According to pre-announcement, the artistes began to gather at Ground Zero before Saturday afternoon.
Actors Intekhab Dinar, Azmeri Haque Badhon, Nadia Ahmed, Shamol Mawla, Nazia Haque Orsha, Fs Nayeem, Sushoma Sarkar, Shohel Mondal, Monoj Prmanaik, Khairul Basar, Sharif Siraj, Abdullah Al Sentu and others were present there.
After a long discussion, several proposals were made for reforming the Actors’ Equity BD.
Actor Sharif Siraj read the written speech on behalf of the artistes. They claimed that the general artistes wanted to talk with leaders of Actors’ Equity.
But they informed that they will not talk to anyone except members of the organisation, Actors’ Equity.
The artistes demanded that they should make a statement apologising for such discriminatory treatment of artistes.
The written statement also said that the current committee, among the existing committees, advisory boards, executive members, and general members of the Actors’ Equity BD have behaved inhumanely, inartistically by avoiding all human contexts during the anti-discrimination students’ movement, they should apologise to the whole nation.
If the first two demands are not met with the artistes by September 10, the current committee of the organisation should be declared dissolved, and all of them should resign.
An outline of the organisation’s interim committee has also been given by the artistes.
It has been reported that after the resignation of the leaders of the organisation, the interim reformation committee will be formed.
Under that committee, within the next six months, according to the reform proposal, how to make this organisation modern, up-to-date, and contemporary, and acceptable to professional performers must be implemented.
The overall preparation and environment for the next election will be taken.
Finally, everyone is invited to come forward to create an organisation that will protect the interests, rights and dignity of all artistes.
