A case has been filed after 17 days in the incident of arson, vandalised and many arms-ammounations looting at Bhairab model police station and Bhairab highway station in Kishoreganj during the anti-discrimination students movement, 15,000 anonymous accused have been made in the case.
The Officer -in Charge (OC) of Bhairab model police station, Md. Safiqul Islam confirmed this information. The plaintiff in the case is sub-inspector (SI) Kamal Hossain of Bhairab model police station.
According to police, there were two attacks on the Bhairab model police station during the anti-discrimination students movement. The latest attack took place on August 5 after former Prime Minister(PM) Sheikh Hasina resigned and left the country.
On that day, the agitators attacked and looted most of the police station’s weapons. At the same time the whole building was set on fire. At least 50 vehicles in front of the police station were vandalized and set on fire. Numerous motorcycles were stolen. All furniture, wireless, computers and documents are burnt. The residential building of the policemen was set on fire inside the police station. After the attack, the policemen fled from the police station. The activities of the police station were stopped from that day. This information is mentioned in the declaration.
The case was filed on Thursday evening. Meanwhile, some arms and bullets have been recovered with the help of anti-discrimination student movement and BNP leaders. On August 9, the temporary operation of the police station started at the local stadium with the help of the army.
Later, Bhairab Chamber of Commerce and Industries bought some furniture for the operation of the police station. Police operations have started in the previous building from Wednesday.
Bhairab OC Safiqul Islam said, the fire caused irreparable damage. Numerous weapons were looted. Materials are burned. Attempts are being made to identify the people involved in the attack by watching the video footage. After watching the footage, the accused will be arrested. So far no one has been arrested in this case”, he added.
