Arrest warrant issued against Mehazabien

Popular model and TV actress Mehazabien Chowdhury has been embroiled in legal complications.
A Dhaka court has issued an arrest warrant against Mehazabien and her brother Alisan Chowdhury in
a case filed against them for allegedly embezzling Tk 2.7
million, threatening and intimidating them in exchange for being a partner in a family business.
According to court sources on Sunday, the accused in the case were scheduled to appear in court. However, as they did not appear in court, Dhaka Executive Magistrate Court-3 Afroza Tania issued an arrest warrant against them on November 10. At the same time, the report regarding the arrest has been scheduled for December 18.
According to the case, the accused, by offering various inducements to Mehazabien Chowdhury as a partner in her new family business, paid a total of Tk 27 lakh in cash and through bKash on various dates and times, claiming to have known the plaintiff for a long time.
After that, the actress and her brother did not take the initiative to start their business activities for a long time, and when the plaintiff asked for money at various times, she delayed it for a long time, saying that she would give it today or tomorrow.
It further states that when he later went to ask for the money owed on the afternoon of February 11, they asked him to come to a restaurant near Hatirjheel Road on March 16. When he went to the spot that day, Mehazabien and his brother along with 4/5 other unidentified people abused him in foul language. They said, “You will not go to our house to ask for money from now on and if I see you in front of our house again, I will kill you”, saying these things, they threatened the plaintiff with death and intimidated him. When the concerned Bhatara went to the police station to resolve the matter, the police station authorities advised him to file a case in the court.
In this incident, Amirul Islam filed a case under Section 107/117(3) of the Criminal Procedure Code at the Executive Magistrate’s Court in Dhaka.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, Mehazabien posted on social media claiming that news about the case had spread.
In the post, the actress wrote, “Some baseless ‘case’ news is being spread online using my name. I request all my journalist colleagues to please refrain from publishing any unverified and untrue news.”
