Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman met with President Mohammed Sahabuddin and Chief Adviser (CA) Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus on Monday, September 1. He began with a morning briefing to the CA, followed by a session with the President, according to a reliable army source.

During the meetings, the Army Chief briefed both leaders on his recent visit to China. They also discussed the country’s law and order situation, with General Waker-uz-Zaman underscoring the military’s ongoing efforts to maintain stability.

The Army Chief’s China trip spanned August 21 to August 27. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that he held courtesy meetings with General Chen Hui, Political Commissar of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Ground Forces, and other senior military and civilian officials.

According to the ISPR release, upon his arrival at the PLA headquarters on August 22, the Army Chief was received with a Guard of Honour. He then met General Chen Hui, where they explored strategic cooperation between both nations, people-to-people exchanges, support for the repatriation of forcibly displaced Myanmar citizens, and Chinese assistance in developing Bangladesh’s military industry.

On August 23, the Army Chief also met Chen Defang, President of China’s Norinco Group, in a courtesy engagement. He subsequently visited the Beijing campus of the PLA Academy of Armed Forces, where he inspected training facilities and military equipment production laboratories.
