Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman has assured Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus of his full cooperation with the interim government.
He gave this assurance during a meeting with the Chief Adviser at the State Guest House Jamuna on Monday.
The Army Chief also met President Muhammed Shahabuddin in the same day.
According to a press release issued by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing, the Chief of Army Staff, General Waker-Uz-Zaman, paid a courtesy call on Professor Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser, on Monday.
During the meeting, the Chief Adviser discussed the role of the army in assisting the civil administration under the current circumstances and expressed his gratitude for their continued contribution in maintaining law and order.
The Chief Adviser said that ahead of the upcoming national election, it is necessary to further organize the role of the army. He emphasized the importance of a clear command structure and close coordination among all forces.
He said, “I have pledged to the nation to deliver an election that will set a benchmark in terms of voter turnout, participation of new and women voters, global confidence in security and safety, and a festive atmosphere of democracy and the rule of law.”
At the same time, the Army Chief urged everyone not to pay attention to rumors and said, “The entire army is committed to ensuring the success of all initiatives and programs of the government.”
