The arms and ammunitions looted from Enayetpur police station during the Students-Public Movement on August 4, were recovered from the underground of a pond on Thursday.
Joint forces in combination with police recovered the arms and ammunitions after irrigating water of the pond, Lt. Col. Nahid-Al-Ameen confirmed the matter to the media.
He said, the joint forces recovered two arms-Chinese rifle and shotgun, a wireless and two rounds of bullet from the bottoms of the pond after irrigating its water. Those arms and ammunitions were looted by the agitating mobs during the movement.
Rawsan Yeazdany, Officer in Charge of Enayetpur police station told The Daily Sky that, “We have become able to recover seven firearms till Thursday noon. But, nine more arms and 911 several types of ammunitions are still on the list of missing. We are trying to recover the arms and ammunition in which those are not used anyway in other crimes.”
Enayetpur police station came under attack on August 4 during the Quota Reform Movement. At that time, the attackers set fire to the police station and carried out vandalism. They also looted 16 firearms and several hundred rounds of bullet from the police station that poses threat to the general people. Those may use in crime in future. This is why, we are trying to recover the arms as soon as possible, he added.
